The Megan Sydney Pay It Forward Fund
The Megan Sydney Pay It Forward Fund was established in November 2024, with a focus on adult individuals with Down syndrome and their caregivers.
Donated funds to The Megan Sydney Pay It Forward Fund are currently used in two ways. Because Megan loved socializing and dancing, the Megan Sydney Fund brings adults with Down syndrome in the Atlanta community together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day - a global awareness day in March which happens to be the month of Megan’s birthday. As Megan developed Alzheimer’s in her 40s, the Megan Sydney Fund also sponsors education opportunities for parents, siblings, caregivers and medical professionals about the increased risk of adult individuals with Down syndrome developing Alzheimer’s disease – an under-funded and often undiscussed topic.
In 2025, donations to The Megan Sydney Pay It Forward Fund made possible:
•Megan’s World Down Syndrome Day Party, March 22, 2025
75 adults with Down syndrome or an intellectual disability attended a private “drop-off” party in Dunwoody where everyone enjoyed dinner, drinks, music, dancing, and socializing. Concurrently, their parents or caregivers gathered at a location nearby and were treated to pizza and drinks.
•Dr. Seth Keller’s presentation at the Emory Down Syndrome Research Symposium, March 8, 2025
100 parents, caregivers, and medical professionals learned about “Aging Well with Down Syndrome, Navigating the Future.” Seth Keller, MD, Neurology Associates of South Jersey and Co-President of the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices, shared data, insights, and expertise about various aging topics, with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease in individuals with Down syndrome.

Megan Marie Sydney - such a beautiful name for a beautiful person. Megan had an impact on everyone she met. Her smile and infectious laugh brought people together. She lived a loving and fulfilling life. Some of her proudest accomplishments include graduating from Tucker High School, swimming on the Tucker High Swim Team, acting in The Habima Theatre productions, and working at Kroger for 19 years. Singing, dancing, exercising, socializing and giving hugs were some of the things that brought joy to her and to those around her. What she loved the best was being with her family.
