Welcome to the 20th annual Buddy Walk Atlanta!

Your participation makes a significant impact on the Down syndrome community of Atlanta. Funds raised from this annual event 2017_Sponsors_(2).jpgallow us to provide support to new parents, offer educational workshops and seminars, facilitate connections through social events and educate the Atlanta community on Down syndrome and advocate for inclusion and supports.

A special thank you goes out to our honorary guest Sean McElwee from the Emmy winning A&E show Born This Way. Be sure to say hello and stop by the photo booth the first 15 min of each hour. We are asking for a donation of any amount to use the photo booth to take pictures with him and the props.  Get all the important Buddy Walk logistics here!

Walk Logistics Updates:

What if it rains or I can no longer make it, can I get a refund? Buddy Walk will take place rain or shine and there are no refunds. If you cannot make it, we will send you your t-shirts.

Where is parking and how much does it cost? The Red deck is located immediately below the International Plaza with easy elevator access. Any of the three parking deck elevators will take you directly to the event lawn. PARKING DISCOUNT: Buddy Walk attendees can purchase Red Deck parking passes online for $6 (after tax) through Saturday. The code to purchase a parking permit online is “BW2017”. Please use the link below to purchase. After clicking on the link, attendees should locate Buddy Walk 2017 and enter the code to proceed to purchase. YOU MUST purchase your parking pass online PRIOR TO Sunday. If you purchase passes Sunday online the cost will be $10. If you wait to Pay at the event it will be $15 for the Red deck.


Can I take MARTA? MARTA is a great way to get to the Buddy Walk. The DOME/Philips Arena/GWCC /CNN Marta stop exits next to the park. The stop is accessible from the Green and Blue lines and requires a line change at Five Points station for people on the Red and Yellow lines.

Where do I register or pick up my team packet? Registration and team packet pickup tables will be at the right side of the park facing the GWCC and the end close to the GWCC. Onsite registration is accepted but we cannot assure that t-shirts will be available. Registration will be open beginning 11:45 am. Team captains will be able to pick up all team member wristbands and shirts at the team tables.

What activities will be available throughout the day? We are pleased to announce that Camp Dream will be leading the Arts and Crafts area will be facilitating our children's activities at Buddy Walk. Our friends at 94.9 The Bull will be provided music and MC duties for the day. Superheroes and more will be filling the park with joy and wonder. There will be inflatables for all ages, Game Trucks, resource tables and more.

What are our food options? There will be two meal options for purchase including a Papa Johns individual pizza and a soft drink for $9 or Nathan's hot dog, chips and a small coke for $5. One Kona Ice/person is included in your Buddy Walk registration and additional Kona Ice will be available for purchase. Popcorn and drinks will also be available at no charge.

Can we put up tents? Pop-up tent space is limited to the perimeter of the open lawn area. Arrive early to claim a spot. Tents with spikes that pierce the ground are not allowed.

Can we bring blankets and lawn chairs? Yes, blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Arrive early to set up a landing spot for the afternoon.

Are pets allowed? No. The GWCC does not allow dogs or other pets on property.

What time does the walk kick off? The walk will begin at 3:30 at the balloon archway.

What is the walk route? The walk route is around the perimeter of the International Plaza beginning at the balloon archway. Police will be there to stop traffic and ensure safety.

Where will the restrooms be located? Portable restrooms will be located just outside the lawn area. Additionally, walkers make enter the GWCC and use the inside restroom facilities. This is a short walk from the lawn area.

How will we get to meet Sean from Born This Way? Sean McElwee is this year's honorary Buddy of the Year and will be onsite all afternoon. Sean will pose for photos at our Selfie Station and mingle with the crowd. In addition, he will kick-off and lead the walk. The top team and the top individual fundraising family will get to have dinner on Oct. 8 with our honorary guest Sean McElwee at The Varsity. In addition, a breakfast opportunity with Sean and his mother will be offered in our Silent Auction.

Will photos with Sean cost money? Sean will be at the photo booth the first 15 min of each hour. We are asking for a donation of any amount to use the photo booth to take pictures with him and the props.  

Will there be a raffle this year? We will offer themed baskets and fun opportunities, such as breakfast with Sean and his mother, at a silent auction in the DSAA marketplace area. DSAA will also have educational books and DSAA merchandise available for purchase.

Is there an event hashtag? Yes, use #BuddyWalkATL and a Snapchat filter will also be available.
