Registration includes a T-shirt, drinks, snacks, and access to games and activities.
Festivities begin at 1:00 pm amid the scenic downtown skyline. (Registration opens at noon and many participants come early to claim lawn space.)
This family-friendly event is open to all. Each year some 3,500+ children and adults with Down syndrome, families, friends, and local supporters enjoy a fun afternoon while raising awareness for inclusion and acceptance and supporting the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta. The day is filled with great performances, and fun activities and the happiest 1/4 mile walk you will take this year!

Become a Fundraiser Champion!
Buddy Walk teams and individuals help fundraise to support the programs, events, and services the DSAA provides for families throughout Georgia. The top teams and individuals are recognized at Buddy Walk on stage.
DSAA has created Buddy Bucks to help your team meet their goal this year! These fun colorful donation cards come in $1 or $5 denominations. Donors fill out their name and honoree then hang them publicly for Down syndrome awareness. You can use them personally or take them to local businesses to see if they are willing to help. Some teams include a lollipop with the Buddy Buck attached. Click here for the Buddy Bucks template. Keep track of the number of bucks you give to each business.
We also have the Buddy Walk Atlanta School Challenge, where we are asking each School/National Honors Society/Key Club to get their whole school involved by forming a Buddy Walk team. (OR – have them virtually join your Buddy Walk team and let them work for you!!) Download the forms here!
Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) as an event to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. This event is officially licensed by the National Down Syndrome Society to support groups and organizations across the country to positively influence on a local level the awareness of the Down syndrome community. Walks usually occur in October in observance of Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
Nationally, Buddy Walk® is the most widely recognized public awareness program for the Down syndrome community. Locally, it is currently the largest fundraising event for the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta, with this year’s goal set at $250,000 for corporate and team sponsorships.
The Buddy Walk® has three primary goals: to promote acceptance & inclusion of people with Down syndrome; to raise funds locally and nationally for education, research and advocacy programs; and to enhance the position of the Down syndrome community, enabling us to positively influence local policy and practice.
Last year’s Buddy Walk Atlanta was a record-breaking success! We hosted the most teams in the event’s history with more than 3000 participants raising nearly $200,000 to support the mission of DSAA. We are especially grateful for the support of all donors, sponsors, team captains, walkers and volunteers at this marvelous event – it would not have been possible without you. Thank you!
