Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta Hires New Executive Director
After an extensive search, we are pleased to introduce Vanessa Champlin of Atlanta as the new Executive Director for the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta.
Champlin comes to the DSAA from a long career in public relations and marketing where she helped a number of non-profits concept and implement innovative programs, develop and leverage strategic partnerships and secure advocate endorsements and support. Most recently, Champlin served as managing director of K-Global, following a 12 year career at Ketchum Public Relations where she led the health and wellness practice.
A board committee conducted an extensive search to find the right person to help significantly grow the organization. “Vanessa’s skills in building high performance teams as well as developing strong relationships and partnerships will help us to connect better with our members and gain the support we need to offer greater education and programming for our members, raise awareness of the needs and issues affecting persons with Down syndrome and serve as a better advocate on the state and local level,” said Jennifer Sheran, a member of the search committee and awareness director for the organization.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with DSAA and the greater Down syndrome community. My younger brother has Down syndrome, so I have firsthand knowledge of the challenges – and opportunities – that families and caretakers face,” said Champlin. “I look forward to expanding upon the remarkable work done to date by DSAA, and to raising awareness of the resources, programs and support available across Atlanta and beyond.”
