Join the Down syndrome consortium for a day at the Capitol on World Down Syndrome Day! There will be a proclamation by the Governor, we will learn about legislation that affects our families, and we will meet with our representatives.

We have a voice and we are stronger together!

This has been a banner year for people with Down syndrome and their families.  Join us under the Gold Dome as we continue the celebration!!

9:00                Arrival & Registration

9:30                Learning how to advocate at the Capitol

                        We hope Rep Scott Hilton can join us for this instruction

10:15             Go to Capitol for a group photo with Rep Scott Hilton and, hopefully, Governor Deal.  We will also be able to witness the presentation of the House Resolution for Down Syndrome Consortium Day.

11:00             Work the Ropes – Talk with your legislator on issues critical to your child and family

What to Bring

Travel light since we leave the meeting space to go to the Capitol.  You will have to take your personal belongings with you. 

  • Government-issued Photo ID to go through Capitol security.
  • No weapons, including pocketknives, are allowed in the Capitol.

No height restriction.

Located at the corner of Jesse Hill Jr. Drive and Decatur Street.
In lane pay stations accept cash or credit 6 AM-7 PM.
Maximum height: 8' 2".

Capitol Lot Daily

Located on Capitol Avenue near the State Capitol.
Maximum height: 18' when entering from Capitol Avenue and going under the pedestrian bridge. No height restriction when entering from Memorial Drive.

Archives Surface Lot/Fraser Street Surface Lot

No height restriction.

Public Transportation

MARTA
