Do you know someone who recieved a diagnosis of Down syndrome? We can help.
DSAA assists families who are expecting, or have delivered, a child with Down syndrome to help them navigate the first steps and beyond of this new journey. From emotional support to connection to valuable resources, DSAA is here to help every step of the way.
To be a resource to hospitals, social workers, medical providers and families, The DSAA runs the First Call Ambassadors program. This volunteer led initiative
- provides information to medical providers about prenatal testing and how to share a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome with expectant parents as well as information specifically designed for expectant parents themselves
- ensures that families of newborns with Down syndrome receive accurate, updated information about Down syndrome additional resources from the birth hospital.
- connects DSAA parents with new parents who want to meet a parent who has a child with Down syndrome.
