Many thanks to everyone that attended and contributed to the 2018 DSAA Buddy Walk on October 6, 2018. Your support and enthusiasm are the life-blood of our organization and allow us to fervently pursue our mission of raising awareness, uniting our community, and building bridges, so that individuals with Down syndrome and their families are connected to opportunities for an amazing life. As always, the day was a wonderful celebration of the fantastic and thriving community that we have here in Atlanta. It really is one of my favorite days of the year and I thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be able to share it with each and every one of you. Our strength is in our community and the Buddy Walk is the perfect manifestation of that.
Congratulations to our Buddies of the Year, Grace Key and Bradley Carlisle. They are true inspirations and wonderful examples for us all. I particularly enjoyed seeing the many past Buddies of the Year that were in attendance and having the opportunity to hear about all of the amazing things that they have accomplished. The future is bright with this group of young leaders.
Finally, I’d like to say a special thank you to our Buddy Walk Committee led by Nanci Brown and Meagan Nash, our Executive Director- Sheryl Arno, and the dozens of volunteers that selflessly gave hours upon hours of their time over the past twelve months to plan and throw the event. We were met with many challenges this year and I thought that they met them head-on and did a fantastic job. We are all indebted to you for your service to the organization. Thank you and congratulations on a job well done.
For all those that attended, please be on the lookout for a post-event survey where you will be able to share your thoughts about what worked and what didn’t at this year’s event. We are committed to making the Buddy Walk an inclusive and enjoyable event for all and welcome your feedback. In the meantime, if there is something that you would like to address with me directly, please feel free to email me at email@example.com.
Thank you again for your continued support of the DSAA. I look forward to seeing everyone again at the Buddy Walk in 2019!
