It is our biggest event of the year. Every fall a few thousand of our families, friends, community and corporate partners gather to celebrate and offer support to our community. We are working hard to make sure this year's Buddy Walk® is the best yet. It kicks-off on October 8th at our new location at the International Plaza at the Georgia World Congress Center. On May 8, the governor signed HB 343, which removes "mental retardation" in GA code and replaces it with "intellectual disabilities." our new This was the first bill sponsored by Senator Scott Hilton, who is a past DSAA board president and active member of DSAA. The DSAA board is pleased to announce the selection of Sheryl Arno as our new Executive Director. Sheryl has over twenty-five years of service in the field of developmental disability and her vast experience will help advance the efforts of the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta to provide new opportunities for education, connections, and programming. Sheryl is a forward-looking leader who has consistently paved the way for appropriate supports, acceptance, and inclusion throughout her career; and we welcome her to the DSAA. Read more!
Tuesday 21 March 2017 marks the 12th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day!
Each year the voice of people with Down syndrome, and those who live and work with them, grows louder.
In 2017, we will focus on enabling people with Down syndrome (and those who advocate for them) to speak up, be heard and influence government policy and action, to ensure that they can be included, on a full and equal basis with others, in all aspects of society.Read more
